In 2016 Tingalpa State School assigned a STEM Mentor to oversee the Science, Design Technology and Digital Technology Programs.
Our Science Program occurs in a dedicated STEM Centre aligned to the Australian Curriculum with strong links to hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Students participate in dynamic, collaborative lessons utilising creative and critical thinking skills. They have the opportunity to enter the Science Competition each year to demonstrate their passions and interests.
The Design Technology Program often compliments content being covered in the Science Program. When our Year 4s are exploring the different properties of materials, they are designing containers to keep eggs safe during the Mighty Egg Drop Challenge!
The Digital Technology Program challenges our students to look for real world solutions using digital technology as their platform.
Other opportunities are available for students to engage in digital technology and utilise their creative and creative thinking skills in our Robotic and Coding Clubs. Students have the opportunity to try out their robotics skills in our Robotics Competition as well as enter their coding work in the Premier's Coding Challenge.
