Our schools and French-Australian Bilingual Program
Tingalpa State School is a Prep to Year 6 primary school offering an Australian Program and a French-Australian Bilingual Program. The bilingual program is accredited by the French Ministry of Education, and Tingalpa is an AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) partner.
Whites Hill State College caters for students from Prep to Year 12 and offers Australian and French Bilingual learning pathways. The schools work collaboratively in delivering their French Bilingual Programs.
The existing school information identifies the French Bilingual year levels at Whites Hill in 2026 as Prep to Year 4 and Years 7 to 9. For current year-level availability, please contact the school.
1. Teachers with Australian teaching qualifications
If you have graduated from an Australian university with a recognised teaching qualification, the usual process is:
- Register as a teacher: Apply through the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
- Apply to teach in Queensland: Visit Teach Queensland for Department of Education teaching applications.
- Express your interest: Email your resume to admin@tingalpass.edu.au, or apply for an advertised position through SmartJobs.
2. French-qualified teachers living in Australia
If you have Australian working rights and hold French teaching qualifications, you can follow the Queensland recruitment pathway, with additional requirements for teacher registration.
- Apply for QCT registration. Your overseas qualifications may require certified translations by an accredited translator. This assessment can take time. Check the QCT registration information and requirements before applying.
- Meet English-language proficiency requirements. Depending on your study history and eligibility, QCT may require an IELTS (Academic) or ISLPR assessment. Where a language test is required, it must have been taken within the three years before your registration application. - Apply to the Department of Education. Visit Teach Queensland.
- Contact the school or apply for a vacancy. Send your resume to admin@tingalpass.edu.au or apply through SmartJobs.
If you have begun your QCT registration application but have not yet achieved the required English-language proficiency level, email admin@tingalpass.edu.au for further advice.
Recruitment, school year and employment conditions
Queensland's school year runs from January to December. Recruitment for a new school year commonly occurs during the second half of the preceding year, although vacancies can arise at other times.
Teachers in Queensland state schools are employed by the Queensland Department of Education. Salaries and working conditions are determined through current government agreements, awards and departmental policies. Pay is influenced by qualifications and years of service. In some cases, relevant prior teaching experience can be recognised.
