Digital Learning Vision
At Tingalpa State School, our vision for digital learning is to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to use technology creatively, critically, and responsibly. We aim to cultivate digital citizens who are prepared to embrace the opportunities and challenges of an evolving digital world.
Our approach emphasises student empowerment through meaningful engagement with technology. By fostering creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking, we prepare students not just for future education, but for lifelong learning and participation in a global society.
Purpose Of Our Digital Learning Model
With the world constantly changing, nothing has been more accelerated than the use of technology in our day-to-day lives. Over the last ten years we have seen technology use expand at an exponential rate, and we are now in a phase of preparing students for jobs that have not yet been created. In preparing our students, it is important that they are exposed to this world, to create individuals who can be critical thinkers and problem solvers while using tools that are no longer optional but essential for success.
The purpose of our digital learning model is to inform both teachers and parents about:
- How technology is used and implemented at Tingalpa State School.
- What it looks like in the classroom.
- When these skills will be taught.
- Why we have taken this approach at Tingalpa State School.
Just as the technology we use is always evolving, so is the way we use it in educating our students.
Our ICT Pedagogical Approach
At Tingalpa State School we value the full integration of technology into the day-to-day practice of the classroom. “Digital literacy is not an end in itself but rather a supporting tool. Improving digital literacy has to be approached holistically, requiring integrated, contextualised learning experiences."
Within each year level at Tingalpa State School, we see a stepping stone of essential skills to ensure that student understanding is progressive and relevant to them and the world they live in.
Our method and practice of digital learning implementation at Tingalpa State School is based on the SAMR and TPACK models. These models see students' learning at the core of what we do. The SAMR model increases both student and teacher awareness of the purpose and use of technology within core curriculum areas. The TPACK model ensures content, technical and pedagogical knowledge are connected at a high level to enhance the learning experience and understanding.
