​​​​​​​​​​Digital Learning Program Focus

To achieve this vision, our program integrates key digital learning components, based on the Australian Curriculum Digital Literacy General Capability, across all year levels and learning areas:

Cyber Safety​ and Digital Citizenship

  • Teach safe and ethical online behaviour, including understanding privacy, digital footprints, cybersecurity and plagiarism.
  • Promote respect, responsibility and empathy in digital interactions, addressing issues such as cyberbullying.

Digital Wellbeing and Health

  • Educate students on healthy technology habits, screen time balance, and the value of offline activities.
  • Teach ergonomic practices, including posture and taking regular breaks.

Digital Learning Integration Across the Curriculum

  • Embed ICT tools and practices across subject areas to enhance learning, adapt to diverse learning styles, and deepen understanding.

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking

  • Use ICT for logic-based challenges, such as robotics or design thinking tasks, to enhance critical thinking.
  • Encourage students to explore tools/apps (e.g. mind maps, diagrams, data collection, simulations) for solving real-world problems.

Digital Literacy Skills, Hardware and Software Maintenance

  • Build foundational computer and device skills, including typing, navigation, and effective use of peripherals.
  • Develop confidence with software, operating systems, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Teach students basic care, troubleshooting, and awareness of computer components and functions.
  • Build independence in navigating file systems and software applications.

Interactive Learning Tools

  • Introduce educational software for writing, designing, calculating, and presenting.
  • Use gamification, game-like elements to enhance engagement, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Using apps and games that foster problem-solving, logic, and creativity.

Online Research and Information Evaluation

  • Teach students how to search for, evaluate, and organise digital information.
  • Emphasize credible sources, note-taking, summarising, and presenting findings.

Communication and Collaboration Tools

  • Leverage email, shared documents, and platforms like QLearn for collaborative learning and communication.
  • Foster digital teamwork and peer-to-peer interaction.

Coding and Programming

  • Introduce visual programming (e.g., Scratch) to develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Multimedia Creations and Digital Storytelling

  • Encourage creation of digital projects — videos, animations, and interactive stories—to enhance creativity and communication.

Digital Assessment and Feedback

  • Use technology for formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide timely, personalised feedback, goal setting and tracking, and encourage self-monitoring and reflection.
